Goals
-
To create an
environment in and around the school bus that
makes the journey to and from school an integral
part of a pupil's learning experience
-
To develop a
highly safe and professional team of drivers,
acting as representatives of Bright Bus
Transport, and equipped with the tools and
training necessary to deliver that experience
-
To generate a
"paradigm shift" in the community, changing the
image of the "bus driver" to that of a "customer
service school bus driver" (in essence, a "trip
manager")
-
To understand the
motivations and expectations of our service
base, the drivers; to improve driver retention;
and to provide short-term employees with an
invaluable career stop
-
To instill in our
staff and drivers an understanding of the Bright
Bus Transport brand of service and provide an
experience of being a part of Bright Bus
Transport
Drivers’ Training
Our drivers rank among the best-trained commercial
vehicle drivers on the road in the U.A.E. They
undergo an initial pre-service comprehensive
training program. In the first year of employment,
our drivers will have at least 80 hours of training
in technical skills, bus environment management,
student discipline and customer service. Drivers are
exposed to real-life driving situations and will
participate in classroom, practical and homework
sessions. Trainer evaluation and a final road and
written test determine a driver's qualification.
BBT drivers participate in ongoing training and
continuous improvement above and beyond the basic
requirements.
Our ongoing training programs include:
-

Improvement Course
-

Checks
All drivers are reviewed annually in our Driver
Review and Assistance Program (DRAP). The driver or
monitor is accompanied on a run by the DRAP reviewer
who checks for proper driving and habit, student
management habits and ensures that risk areas are
identified before safety is compromised.
Drivers who have had a collision deemed to be
preventable are required to undergo refresher
training and a driving review. This ensures that
poor driving habits can be identified and corrected
before another accident occurs. |
